5th and 6th of September, 24 Hours of Barcelona 2015, Circuit de Catalunya. Simtechpro supported by KH-7 was ready to race its own own virtual 24h.
It was not the first time we faced this challenge, in 2009, also in the 24 Hours of Barcelona, we try to make this race, but that time we had to abandoned at 3 a.m after 15 hours of racing due to a technical problem in the brake pedal simulator.
This time four partners of the company decided to meet this challenge for two reasons, to enjoy a similar experience and feel as a professional racing driver for a day, and mainly to test one of our most sophisticated simulators, our Motion Simbase pro model equipped with a panoramic visual system of 5 screens with 180 ° perspective, professionals steering wheel and pedals, motion system based on actual telemetry and a large number of accessories.
4 pilots took turns driving 1 hour each, and the race went off without too many problems beyond the typical problems that real drivers can be found in track (accidents, breakdowns of other cars, safety cars …). Our virtual car simulator behaved fantastically during 24h and this time we managed to complete the race and cross the finish line.
We could finish the race on the 1st position in our category and 10th in the overall standings.
Parallel to our activity, we also arranged a second Simbase Motion Simulator open to the public, where people could enjoy a few laps at Circuit de Catalunya Barcelona-driving a Seat Leon Cup Racer. The participants competed for the best lap time and got a fantastic experience on the circuit.
We would like to thank KH-7 for supporting our challenge and share their own real challenge with us with Laia Sanz and Francesc Gutierrez who competed and achieved a magnificent second place in its category and 16th overall.
